Terms and Conditions for the An Post Battle of the Book Clubs Challenge. 

 

By participating in this competition, you agree to the terms and conditions below,

1. Eligibility

• Entry is open to all Irish-based book clubs with a minimum of 3 members.
• Clubs must be active and able to demonstrate regular meetings or reading activity.
• Participants must be aged 18 or over.

2. How to Enter

• Entry is via the form on anpost.com/readerswanted OR submitted to bookclubs@anpost.ie

3. Campaign Mechanics

• Once the shortlist for the Irish Book Awards in announced the “promotion” begins and all Clubs that have submitted the form are contacted with a ‘digital pack’
• Clubs will receive a digital pack with all submission details, including the official email for content submission. Each week’s challenge will include a brief and sample content for inspiration
• The content is uploaded to the An Post YouTube channel and the public can vote for their preferred book club via a voting form on our website the top performing clubs will progress to the next round

Clubs will be tasked with creating content around the following themes, more detail will be supplied each week.

4. Judging Criteria

Creativity and originality of content is judged by the An Post Irish Book Awards team

• Public Vote  - 40%   - The level of support the club receives from the public through the official vote on the An Post website form.
• Challenge Response   - 30%  -  How well the club responds to the specific challenge, including whether they follow the brief and deliver a strong, relevant submission.
• Book Engagement  -  20%  -  How clearly the club has engaged with and understood the book. Judges can look for thoughtful discussion, references to the story/themes/characters and evidence that the book has genuinely informed their response.
• Creativity & Originality  -  10%  -  How fresh, imaginative and distinctive the club's submission is, including how creatively they bring their idea to life.

5. Prizes

Winning club will receive: 

• €500 One4all Gift Card, book hampers with signed copies of books included. 
• Invite to the An Post Irish Book Awards Watch Party on the 1st December. Time and location to be confirmed. 
• Runners-up may receive book hampers and social media shoutouts.

6. Timeline

• Promotion Starts:September 28th , 2026
• Shortlist announced: October 22nd  
• Campaign period:October 22nd - December 1st 2026. 
• Winners announced: December 1st 2026 at the Awards Night

7. Media & Content Use

• Clubs retaining copyright of their material but grant An Post a license to use content
• By entering, clubs agree to allow An Post and its partners to use submitted content for promotional purposes.
• Content may be featured on An Post’s social channels, the An Post Irish Book Awards website, and media partner platforms.

8. General Conditions

• An Post reserves the right to amend or cancel the competition at any time.
• Decisions by the judging panel are final.
• Prizes are non-transferable and no cash alternatives will be offered.
• Clubs must adhere to fair play and avoid any content that could be deemed offensive or discriminatory. Offensive content will result in disqualification.
