You can open a joint account by visiting any An Post branch in Ireland. To open a joint account with one other person, both account holders must visit a post office together.
Key things to note before application:
1. Both people need to bring:
- Proof of identity (such as a passport or driving licence)
- Proof of address dated within the last six months (such as a utility bill or bank statement)
2. You'll share the same IBAN/account, but each person gets:
- Their own debit card
- Their own online banking login
- Their own PIN and card number
- Each account holder must have their own email address
- You can have the same home address or different addresses
You cannot apply for a joint account in the app, but you can fill out the application form before your visit or pick up the form when you are in the post office.
