Insured Post for secure delivery overseas

If you’re sending Insured Post internationally, there are a few important things to keep in mind.

When sending packets or parcels to destinations outside the European Union, a completed customs declaration (CN23) form is required and is available from your post office.

An Aviation Security Declaration, to ensure compliance with airline security regulations, must be attached to any packet or parcel containing goods sent within the EU, excluding Northern Ireland.

Tracking for Insured Post International is available up to dispatch from the Republic of Ireland but online tracking is not available to every country.

Check An Post’s list of prohibited items, including the full list of items restricted from the postal services.

Although cash is accepted, it is not covered by insurance under the Insured Post service. An Post recommends you avoid sending money by post and offers a range of other services to transfer money securely.

Insurance cover is provided for the declared value up to €320 for Insured post.

The following items will be accepted for Insured Post but are not insured:

• Bank drafts
• Cash and coins
• Documents
• Glass and other fragile items
• Jewellery
• Passports
• Precious metals such as platinum, gold or silver
• Vouchers with a monetary face value
