Senior Analyst Programmer, An Post GTS – IT3
Job Purpose
Group Technology Solutions is responsible for maintenance, support and development of various systems within An Post. The systems facilitate the recording and processing of mail (including publicity post and bar-coded products), both domestically and internationally, payment to An Post for the delivery of this mail. The systems utilise a range of operating systems and database technologies.
Reporting to the Project Manager, as Senior Analyst Programmer you will support existing systems and develop new systems as required. This is a permanent position that is based in Dublin.
Responsibilities
The principal responsibilities associated with the role include, but are not limited to:

Requirement gathering and analysis.

Functional and Technical Design of system changes when required.

Development of systems to specification using structured techniques.
-
System and integration testing.
-
Source control and Release process documentation.
-
Support and maintenance of systems in live operation.

Providing support to users for ad-hoc queries.
-
Development time estimation and meeting timely development delivery.
-
Communication with technical and non-technical members.
Person Specification
You will have a minimum 3 years Oracle Apex Development experience. Experience of producing clear documentation and knowledge and experience of relational database design is required. Good interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively communicate with management, users and other team members.
Ideally, you will have project or change requests experience from start to finish, be able to work with minimum supervision on requirement gathering from internal/external users, investigating and analysing collected data, transforming user requirement to appropriate IT solution with accurate estimation and delivering the changes or project to agreed business delivery dates.
A third level qualification is desirable and you must have substantial experience of some or all of the following:
- 3 years core development work done on Oracle Apex and Oracle Databases
- SQL and PL/SQL
- Experience on some Source control system. (VSS etc)
- Experience on Release documentation and process
- Experience on Change Request management system.
