Oifigeach Gaeilge, 24 uair an chloig sa tseachtain – is féidir a bheith lonnaithe in áit ar bith sa tír, agus ní mór freastal ar cheanncheathrú An Post i mBaile Átha Cliath ó am go chéile.  
 
Bainistíonn an tOifigeach Gaeilge freagrachtaí An Post i leith na Gaeilge agus tacaíonn le seachadadh seirbhísí ainmnithe trí Ghaeilge.

Seo iad na príomhfhreagrachtaí

  • Comhairle a chur ar na gnóthaí agus ar an lárionad corparáideach maidir le hoibleagáidí dlíthiúla An Post faoi Acht na dTeangacha Oifigiúla (Leasú), 2021 agus soiléiriú a thabhairt maidir leis na caighdeáin teanga a thiocfaidh in áit Scéim Teanga reatha An Post. Máistirdhoiciméad amháin a chruthú agus ceisteanna ad hoc a fhreagairt.
  • Feidhmiú mar theagmhálaí An Post le hOifig an Choimisinéara Teanga, le Fiontar ag Ollscoil Chathair Bhaile Átha Cliath (logainm.ie) agus leis an Roinn Turasóireachta, Cultúir, Ealaíon, Gaeltachta, Spóirt agus Meán.
  • Monatóireacht a dhéanamh ar chomhlíonadh fhorálacha Acht na dTeangacha Oifigiúla (cumarsáid leis an bpobal, foilseacháin, suíomhanna gréasáin, comharthaíocht, eolas ar tháirgí etc); cabhair a thabhairt ó thaobh an suíomh gréasáin a uasdátú agus obair a leanann de sin.
  • Comhfhreagras ó chustaiméirí agus ó chomhlachtaí, cuir i gcás an Coimisinéir Teanga, a bhainistiú chomh fada le réiteach nó dúnadh.
  • Aistriúchán a chur ar fáil agus seirbhísí aistriúcháin seachtracha a bhainistiú, profáil a dhéanamh chun léirmhíniú cruinn agus comhsheasmhacht teanga a chinntiú. (Leanúnach don suíomh gréasáin, do tháirgí agus d’ábhar le haghaidh na meán).  Bunachar sonraí téarmaí Gaeilge a choinneáil chun comhsheasmhacht téarmaí a úsáidtear go minic a chinntiú.
  • Dianoiliúint sa Ghaeilge a eagrú d’fhostaithe An Post de réir mar a theastaíonn.
  • Ráitis ó bhéal atá faofa a chur ar fáil do na meáin chraolta.
  • Dul i gcomhairle le logainm.ie i ndáil le logainmneacha agus cinnte a dhéanamh de go gcuirtear uasdátuithe bliantúla ó Logainm isteach i mBunachar Sonraí Lárnach Seoltaí An Post.
  • Ionadaíocht a dhéanamh thar ceann An Post ag imeachtaí Gaeilge a eagraíonn Gníomhaireachtaí Stáit agus eagraíochtaí Gaeilge nuair is gá agus príomhtheagmhálacha a choinneáil. 
Beidh an tOifigeach Gaeilge freagrach don Bhainisteoir Gnóthaí Poiblí taobh istigh den Fhoireann Cumarsáide Corparáidí. Tá na scileanna seo a leanas ag teastáil:

Bunriachtanach: Ardchaighdeán Gaeilge comhaimseartha idir labhartha agus scríofa agus eolas críochnúil ar an reachtaíocht reatha i ndáil leis an nGaeilge.
Oideachas: Go hidéalach beidh céim 3ú leibhéal nó a comhionann ag an iarrthóir.
Taithí: Taithí cúig bliana ar a laghad i ról ina raibh freagracht ó cheann ceann ar an iarrthóir as forfheidhmiú beartais agus ina raibh cumarsáid láidir agus tógáil caidrimh ag teastáil.

Irish Language Officer

Reporting to the Public Affairs Manager within the Corporate Communications team, as Irish Language Officer you will manage An Post’s Irish language responsibilities and support the delivery of designated services through Irish. 
 
This position is a 3 day week position and can be based in any part of the country, with occasional attendance at An Post Dublin HQ.

Responsibilities

  • Advising the businesses and corporate centre on An Post’s legal obligations under the Irish Language Amendment Act 2021 and the clarification of Language Standards to replace An Post’s current ‘Scheme’. Creating one master document & answering ad hoc queries.
  • Acting as the An Post liaison with the Office of An Choimisinéara Teanga;  Fiontar at DCU (Logainm.ie) and the Department of Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sport and Media.
  • Monitoring compliance with the provisions of the Irish Language Amendment Act (Publications, Websites, Signage, Product & Marketing information etc); assisting with website updates & follow-up.
  • Handling correspondence from customers and bodies such as An Choimisinéara Teanga, through to resolution/closure.
  • Providing translation and managing external translation services, proof-reading to ensure accurate interpretation and consistency of language. Maintaining a database of Irish language terminology to ensure consistency of frequently used terms.
  • Arranging intensive Irish language training for An Post employees as required.
  • Providing approved oral statements to broadcast media.
  • Liaising with logainm.ie regarding place names and ensure that annual updates are incorporated into An Post’s Central Address Database (CAD).
  • Representing An Post at Irish language events organised by State Agencies and Irish language organisations, as the need arises and maintaining key contacts. 

Knowledge & Experience

 
The ideal candidate will have at least five years’ experience in a role requiring end-to-end responsibility for policy implementation.   A high standard of contemporary spoken and written Irish and thorough knowledge of current legislation in relation to Irish language is crucial. A third level degree or equivalent is ideal. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to work on your own initiative, at pace and provide work of a high standard of work is required. You must also have the ability to take a positive and practical approach to An Post’s compliance with its legal obligations, to the very best of our ability.
