PCI is a wholly owned subsidiary of An Post, providing specialist IT Strategy, Management and Development services across every aspect of An Post IT infrastructure. Alongside An Post IT staff, they collectively form the internal IT function known as Group Technology Services (GTS).

Role Purpose

The Riposte platform underpins the core of the post office retail network technology and An Post is running a significant transformation and modernisation programme of the retail software platform to meet future business demands and to provide stability and growth. The Riposte development team is responsible for ensuring that a wide range of frontend and backend software applications are delivered to meet business requirements. Their applications support a range of public facing business services including banking and financial services, payment services, mobile phone services and mails services.

An Post are looking to recruit a development team lead to support and lead the development team in the delivery of the retail software application suite. The candidate should be familiar with the current retail applications and services provided by the post office and have a consistent track record in the delivery of retail applications and demonstrate strong management and leadership skills and provide evidence of the ability to take ownership of software development team activity.

Responsibilities

The principal responsibilities associated with this role include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Lead and provide technical mentorship to a team of software developers, ensuring successful project delivery and alignment to project timelines.

  • Lead all aspects of the software development project ensuring completion on schedule and within scope and in alignment to the SDLC processes.

  • Work closely with the solution architecture team to translate the solution design into development tasks and provide feedback on the design as necessary.

  • Lead agile ceremonies, including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, sprint reviews, and retrospectives.

  • Ensure the development documentation artefacts are created and maintained.

  • Assist in the recruitment process and conduct code reviews as well as mentor development staff to facilitate their growth and skill development.

  • Collaborate with project managers to review business requirements project plans, resource allocation, size and provide recommendations.

  • Liaise with third party software suppliers and integration partners where appropriate.

  • Lead proof of concept activity for new technologies and initiatives.

  • Work with the DevOps team to setup CI CD pipelines and automated provisioning of the environments.

  • Define unit tests and acceptance tests with the QA function and assess release criteria.

  • Support the service delivery function in relation to handover to BAU and production support teams.

Knowledge, Skills & Experience

The successful candidate will have a minimum of 7 years relevant IT experience, with proven experience in software development using the Riposte tech stack. You will have demonstrated strong software development skills using C# programming language.
You will have a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field with at least 2 years in an equivalent technical lead role.
Excellent knowledge of code and release management as well as experience in Object Oriented Programming, design patterns and SOLID principles are also required.
Experience of the following is also highly desirable –

  • Software development experience using visual basic or expertise in migrating visual basic code to C#

  • Certification in agile methodologies (e.g., Scrum Master, Agile Coach).

  • Consuming REST and SOAP based web services and APIs.

  • Working with unit test frameworks.

  • Automated performance and volume testing tools and methodologies.

  • Familiarity with Atlassian tools (e.g. Jira, Confluence)

  • Working on major transformation or technology migration projects.

  • Working within a regulated financial services environment is beneficial e.g. PCI DSS compliance standard.
