An Post advice to business customers

9 December 2020

An Post has advised its large-scale Irish and international online retailers that due to record volumes of online shopping, it can only guarantee pre-Christmas delivery of e-commerce parcels received into its processing  system by close of business on 14th December.

“We’re running at full capacity in recent weeks and we have a duty to ensure that our E-Commerce Retailers are fully aware of the impact of Christmas volumes on processing and delivery times during this Covid pandemic, so as to avoid disappointment for shippers and shoppers alike.   We prefer to be upfront so that these major online sellers can plan their operations and advise their customers accordingly.”

An Post will deliver more than 3 million parcels across Ireland this week, for the second week running and its system is at full capacity.

This deadline applies only to An Post’s bigger ecommerce retailers and shippers and not to ordinary customers posting parcels and packages for whom the advised Latest Dates still apply including:  December 11th for Christmas cards to the US, Saturday 12th for parcels, 17th for cards to Europe - excluding Great Britain, for which the latest posting date to be sure of delivery  of cards and parcels in time for Christmas is December 18th.
