Dermot Divilly

Announced as Chairperson, December 1, 2015

Dermot Divilly has broad experience of boards, corporate governance, shareholders and pensions across diverse industries. He has been CEO of many businesses over his career including Thorn Domestic Appliances, Toyota distributors Killeen Investments, solid fuel and shipping company Consolidated Holdings and distribution group Allegro, where he successfully led a management buyout. For the past 15 years he has been the Executive Chairman and majority shareholder for a number of private equity investments in Ireland and the UK. He has been a non‑executive director of SIAC and Aviva Ireland. He is currently Chairman of the Personal Injuries Assessment Board. He holds a first class honours degree in agricultural science as well as an MBA.

Noel Adamson

Noel Adamson joined the Post Office in 1981 as a postman in the Central Sorting Office in Dublin’s Sheriff Street. He has been employed in this capacity for 24 years and is currently based in Swords Delivery Services Unit. Throughout his employment he has been an active member of the Communications Workers’ Union. He is a member and former chairman of the union’s Standing Orders Committee and currently holds the positions of Assistant Secretary and Health & Safety Officer with the Dublin Postal Delivery Branch.

Carol Bolger

Carol Bolger is a chartered director and an assessor with the Institute of Directors' Board Evaluation service. She is a board member of Link ASI Ltd, the HSA, the Coombe Women & Infants University Hospital and a member of the Audit Committee of the Department of Agriculture, Food and Marine.  She has broad banking experience gained in corporate and business banking in Bank of Ireland and Ulster Bank where she held senior roles including Chief Operating Officer and Director of Strategy & Planning.

Carol is a certified bank director and holds qualifications in Finance and Strategy & Innovation. She is an also an executive coach accredited by the European Mentoring and Coaching Council.  A fellow of the Institute of Banking she is a former council member and past Vice President.

Paula Butler

Paula Butler joined An Post in 2014 as Head of Procurement with expertise in supply chain management. Prior to An Post, Paula held many procurement focussed roles in a variety of companies and industries:, including regulatory, pharmaceutical, hardware & software manufacturers and a regional airline. Paula holds an  MBS from Dublin City University, Diploma from Kings Inns and a BA in Business Studies from University of Liverpool. She serves as Secretary to the Board.

Deirdre Burns

Deirdre Burns was appointed as a non-executive director in May 2017. She has over 25 years of global experience at board and senior leadership levels in pharmacy, healthcare, the fast-moving consumer goods and telecom sectors. Deirdre has held many roles including Managing Director Boots Ireland, Supply Chain Director Walgreens Boots Alliance and Retail Director EE. She has an impressive non-executive portfolio, working predominantly with private equity companies in the technology, media and telecom, healthcare and pharmacy sectors. Deirdre is a native of Belfast and holds an honours degree in pharmacy from Queen’s University Belfast.

Thomas Devlin

Thomas Devlin began his career in the Post Office in 1976 when he joined the Department of Posts and Telegraphs as a junior postman working as a messenger in the Minister’s Office. He is currently employed as a Delivery Service Manager in Swords/Malahide Delivery Service Unit, Co. Dublin. An active member of the Communications Workers’ Union, he served on the National Executive for two years and is currently Chairman of the Dublin Mail Managers Branch.

David McRedmond

Chief Executive Officer
David McRedmond was appointed Chief Executive Officer of An Post in October, 2016. He was previously CEO of TV3 where he transformed the company into a major Irish broadcaster, concluding with its sale to Liberty Global in December 2015. Prior to TV3, David was the Commercial Director of Eircom and the Managing Director of Eircom Enterprises. His early career was as a retail industry executive in the UK and USA where he held senior roles such as Operations Director of Waterstones, Managing Director of WH Smith Travel Retail and CEO of WH Smith Inc.

A native of Dublin, David holds a Masters degree in Modern Irish History from UCD. He completed the Top Management Programme at the Cabinet Office, UK and the Advanced Management Programme at INSEAD. He is the non-executive Chairman of Eir, Ireland’s leading telecoms company, a director of Premier Lotteries Ireland and a fellow of the Royal Society of Arts.

William Mooney

William Mooney has worked in the postal service since 1982 and is currently employed as a post office clerk. He is a director of The Prize Bond Company. He is a member of the National Executive Council of the Communications Workers’ Union and Secretary of the Dublin Postal Clerks Branch. He is a graduate of the National College of Ireland where he studied human resource management and employee relations.

Kieran Mulvey

Kieran Mulvey served as Chief Executive of the Labour Relations Commission from 1991 to 2016 and as Director General of the Workplace Relations Commission until June 2016. Kieran was appointed by the Government to chair mediation talks on the transfer of the National Maternity Hospital to the St Vincent’s campus, and has prepared a Report for the Government Task Force on a ten year Regeneration Plan for Dublin’s North Inner City. He was Chairman of the Refund Project which raised over €1 million for homeless charities.

Kieran is former General Secretary of the Association of Secondary Teachers, Ireland (ASTI) and Irish Federation of University Teachers (IFUT). He has also acted as a Consultant with the EU and the International Labour Organisation (ILO) and has served on many University Boards and Government Bodies/Agencies. He is currently Chairman of Sport Ireland,  the Government Body for the National Sports Campus and Sports Funding.  A graduate of UCD, he holds several postgraduate qualifications in Education and Law. A Fellow of the Educational Institute of Scotland, he holds Honorary Doctorates of Laws from the National University of Ireland and UCD and is an Honorary Fellow of the Employment Law Association.  He was recently conferred with the first Honorary Fellowship of the Chartered Institute of Personnel & Development (CIPD).

Martina O'Connell

Martina O’Connell joined An Post in 1993 as an auxiliary postperson and is now working as a postal operative in Cork’s South City Delivery Office. She has been elected President of the Communications Workers’ Union. An active member of the union since she joined the company, she has been a member of the National Executive Council since 2002 and serves on a number of sub-committees.

Niall Phelan

Niall Phelan joined An Post in 1987. He initially worked in Mails and Retail Operations before moving to Group Technology Services in 1990, where he has gained experience across a wide range of IT roles. In his current position of GTS Project Manager, he is responsible for An Post's human resources, remuneration and pensions systems. He is a member of the Communications Workers' Union and in 2014 he was appointed as a trustee to the An Post Superannuation Schemes.

James Wrynn

James Wrynn is a former Senior Lecturer in Strategic Management in The College of Business DIT and Head of the Department of Administrative Studies in DIT’s Faculty of Business. He served on the Board of ESB for more than 10 years and during his term of office served as Deputy Chairperson from 1995–2000. He also chaired ESB Board Committees on International Investment and Strategic Response to Deregulation. James chaired the Board’s Audit and Risk Committee for the period from February 2012 to September 2016.

Peter Coyne

Peter Coyne is an experienced Non-Executive Director with expertise in Audit and Risk Committee chairman roles across a wide range of CBI regulated entities. He is a Chartered Accountant with more than 20 years’ experience advising companies and boards on M+A transactions, Fundraising, Corporate Strategy, IPO and Takeover Offers. He is currently Principal with Diamond Splash Ltd and previously held senior positions in Vision Consulting Ltd, AIB Corporate Finance Ltd and Arthur Andersen and Co. He is a non-executive director and Audit chair in Ark Life Assurance Company and previously held a non-executive directorship with Trinity Biotech.

Mary O’Donovan

Mary O’Donovan is a Chartered Director with board experience in the public, private and charitable sectors. She is currently a Board member of the Residential Tenancies Board and a Board Member of Transport Infrastructure Ireland.

She has broad experience at a senior level in operations, systems and general management and has held senior roles including Customer Services Director, Chief Information Officer, Chief Operations officer and General Manager in the Telecommunications and BPO sectors. Mary is a native of Clonakilty and holds a B.E Elec from University College Cork with an M.B.A from University College Galway.

Pádraig McNamara

Pádraig McNamara is the Postmaster director. Padraig is the postmaster in Granard, Co. Longford. He has been Postmaster at Granard for 22 years and a member of the Irish Postmasters’ Union Executive for 17 years and served as Vice President.
