Ireland

VAT is applied as per Irish Revenue rules and is already included in the price of goods you buy online from an Irish Retailer

EU

• EU operates a single market and major retailers will charge the VAT of the country from where it was ordered
• No further charges should apply to your online shopping unless you are purchasing alcohol or tobacco products which can carry additional charges
• An Post does not ship liquids including alcohol so beware of these rules before buying these products online

Northern Ireland

For the purposes of trade, online purchases made from Northern Ireland are treated the same as EU purchases

Great Britain

• Most major retailers have a solution whereby customs charges are included in your online shopping basket so no further action is required by you before delivery.
• Smaller retailers may not have the ability to charge VAT and customs in your online shopping basket and these items may be charged by Irish Revenue when they arrive in Ireland. An Post will notify you of any charges and you can pay at anpost.com or a local post office
• Gifts sent from non EU countries are VAT exempt once the total value is declared under €45

Rest of World –

Non EU Countries 

• Most major retailers have a solution whereby customs charges are included in your online shopping basket so no further action is required by you before delivery.
