An Post Tacking Flood Disruption

20 November 2009 | 1 min read

The weather conditions and resulting floods have disrupted mail deliveries in some areas, particularly the West and South of the country and areas of West Cork, in particular.  An Post mails processing centres in Cork, Portlaoise, Athlone and Dublin operated as normal last night but there have been difficulties transporting mail for local delivery this morning.  An Post staff will be working around the clock over the weekend to ensure the collection and delivery of mail wherever it is possible and safe to do so.

All but a handful of Post Offices are open for business as normal today, though access has been severely curtailed by localised flooding in certain areas.   The ESB is working to restore power to a small number of Country Cork offices affected by flooding.
