Taking inspiration from escape rooms, students are tasked with applying their literacy and numeracy skills to complete a challenge. First, there's the qualifying rounds in September 2021 - students are asked to complete a simple challenge including literacy and numeracy to secure themselves a spot in one of our Brain Busters events. Two events will take place in April 2022, one for Primary level and one for Post Primary level. These events will immerse students in an intriguing, unfolding story where they will be participating in the story themselves as key characters and have to test their literacy and numeracy skills through 10 challenges to ‘crack the case’… and the 2022 An Post Brain Busters champions will be announced! 

This exciting new educational programme is open to 5th and 6th class primary school students, and Junior Cycle students at Post Primary level (1^st and 2^nd year). If you're not taking part in the event, you can still find loads of resources online to have fun with literacy and numeracy! Click here for resources.

This programme has extensive curricular links, and aims to develop students numeracy and literacy skills. Students will have the opportunity to apply their communication, team work and troubleshooting skills too as they work to complete the challenge.

We have lots of exciting prizes, for primary and secondary school students. This year, we have a prize fund of €3,500. You will also receive a certificate. Keep an eye out for the winners announcement in April 2022.
