International Express Post for quick delivery overseas

Express Post International only carries letters, envelopes and packets weighing up to 2kg.

The minimum envelope size acceptable for items destined for the USA is C5. You can ask for a complimentary Easi Pak at the counter if your item is going to the US and is smaller than C5 in size.

The service does not include insurance cover and valuable items such as cash and coins, bank drafts, jewellery, passports and precious metals should not be sent using Express Post International. Customers wishing to post such items should use Registered Post  or our money transfer services.

Collections are not made on weekends or public holidays and the delivery guarantee does not apply where delays occur as a result of customs intervention or events beyond our control.

The minimum item size for international courier post is A4. If your document is smaller, ask for a document pack at your local post office.

The insured value of your item is based on the declaration made at the time of posting, subject to a limit of €350.

You can send parcels weighing up to 20kg and with the following maximum dimensions:

• Length 1.5 metres
• Length + girth: 3 metres (where the girth equals 2 x [depth + width])

Delivery times for Priority Parcel International are estimated only and not guaranteed. They are quoted in working days which are Monday to Friday and exclude Saturdays, Sundays, Good Friday and bank or public holidays.

 

Tracking for Registered Post International is available up to dispatch from the Republic of Ireland but online tracking is not available to every country.

A copy of the signature confirming safe delivery can be obtained on request from the delivering postal operator and this can then be obtained from Customer Services.

Insurance cover is provided for the declared value up to:

• €320 for post to the UK
• €150 for post to Europe
• €100 for parcels and €35 for all other items sent outside of Europe

The following items will be accepted for Registered Post but are not insured:

• Bank drafts
• Cash and coins
• Documents
• Glass and other fragile items
• Jewellery
• Passports
• Precious metals such as platinum, gold or silver

When sending packets or parcels to destinations outside the European Union, a completed customs declaration is required and is available from your post office. We provide two customs forms:

• The CP72 for parcels or items with a value in excess of €300
• The CN22 for all other items

An Aviation Security Declaration, to ensure compliance with airline security regulations, must be attached to any packet or parcel containing goods sent within the EU, excluding Northern Ireland.

Queries about registered items can be made by:

• Completing the enquiry form for missing, damaged or delayed items
• Writing to An Post Customer Services, General Post Office, O’Connell Street Lower, Dublin 1, D01 F5P2

All enquiries must be made within six months of the date of posting for international items.

In the event that your registered item is not received by the addressee, we will compensate you subject to certain conditions.

When registering an item, you need to declare its replacement value as compensation is related to the declared value. Where no value is declared a maximum of €25.39 is payable. Compensation with regard to coin is limited to €12.70.
