Franking machines allow you to manage your own postage costs, paying as and when you need to. Five companies are currently authorised to provide franking machines in the Republic of Ireland:

If you send more than 40 parcels a week, you can become a parcels account holder with An Post. Contact an Account Manager to find the best parcels solution for your business. To set up an account, you will need to fill out the following forms:

Annual collection service
Once we have your completed form and payment it will take just a few days to set up your Service.
Your Account Manager can guide you through the options available. We can collect Standard Post, Express Post and Registered Post mail.
We will collect your post after 4pm.
We require notice of at least five working days to put the service in place and there is a delay of at least one working day in the delivery of redirected post.
The name of the company or firm must also be displayed in a permanent and prominent place at the new address before we can redirect your post.
Two signatures are required except in the case of a sole trader. For limited companies, the form must be signed by the company secretary and at least one other director of the company. For partnerships or associations, the form must be signed by each partner or associate.
Working days are Monday to Friday and exclude Saturdays, Sundays, Good Friday and bank or public holidays. Express Post items posted on Friday before the latest time of posting are guaranteed for delivery nationwide on Monday.
Money, jewellery or valuables should not be sent using the Express Post services. Customers wishing to post such items should use
Registered Post. No compensation for loss or damage is paid on Express Post items.
Yes, those with scheduled collections or access to meter posting boxes can include Express Post items. For more information, business customers can contact their

Our
International Express Post service offers a fast and cost-effective way to post your item abroad. We deliver to a range of international destinations, including 21 countries across Europe, but international delivery times are estimates only and are not guaranteed.
To qualify for Ceadúnas, you must post a minimum of 2,000 letters or 500 large envelopes or 100 packets in a single posting.
The standard Ceadúnas logo looks like this:
The bottom left hand box should contain the service identifiers such as L for letter, P for parcel or News for Newspapers. Different service identifiers should be kept separate.
We also offer Ceadúnas customers the opportunity to use a customised logo, which has been approved by us, through our PostAim service.
All Ceadúnas (prepaid postage) mail should be presented as follows:
- All items should be of a similar size, weight and shape and conform to certain agreed dimensions
- Post should be divided between local and forward mail
- Items should be bundled in 50s or 10s for bulkier items
- All addresses should face the same way
- A return address must be on the front of the envelope in the top left hand corner
- The cover of Ceadúnas items must bear the approved pre-printed logo
- Mail bearing postage stamps or franked impressions should not be included with Ceadúnas items
Check An Post’s list of prohibited items, including the full list of items restricted from the postal services.
Although cash is accepted, it is not covered by insurance under the Foreign Registered Post service. An Post recommends you avoid sending money by post and offers a range of other services to transfer money securely.
Insurance cover is provided for the declared value up to €320 for post to Ireland and the UK.
Additional insurance is available for items posted within the Republic of Ireland. A charge of €4.50 is applicable for cover up to €1,500 and a charge of €5.50 for cover up to €2,000.
The following items will be accepted for Registered Post but are not insured:
- Bank drafts
- Cash and coins
- Documents
- Glass and other fragile items
- Jewellery
- Passports
- Precious metals such as platinum, gold or silver
- Vouchers with a monetary face value

All enquiries must be made within one month of posting for items sent within Ireland.
In the event that your registered item is not received by the addressee, An Post will compensate you subject to certain conditions.
When registering an item, you need to declare its replacement value as compensation is related to the declared value. Where no value is declared a maximum of €25.39 is payable. Compensation with regard to coin is limited to €12.70.
We require notice of up to seven working days to put a PO Box in place.
Your PO Box is rented for letters, packets and parcels, allowing you to receive all your mail.

The service is available on working days in more than 40 selected post offices in the Dublin area. Check which ones and the various drop-off and delivery times.
The Same Day Delivery service has a weight restriction of 2kg. It is also subject to the following size restrictions:
Letters and large envelopes
- Minimum: 14cm long, 9cm wide, 0.018cm deep (with a tolerance of 0.2cm)
- Maximum: 40cm long, 30cm wide, 2.5cm deep
Packets
- Minimum: 10cm long x 7cm high x 2.5cm deep
- Maximum: a combined length, height and depth of 90cm
- No individual dimension can exceed 60cm (with a tolerance of 0.2cm)
Tube form
- The length plus twice the diameter must be less than 104cm with no one dimension exceeding 90cm (with a tolerance of 0.2cm)
The following must be in place for your printer to connect to the server:
- The printer must be connected to a network
- The network must be of the type ”Always on”, either DSL line or LAN
- The printer must be able to connect to the internet on port 80
- Any firewall must allow access to the internet
- You may need to change your network settings to allow the printer to access the network
The stamp printer must be connected to the internet at least once every business day. Failure to do so may result in the temporary cessation of the service.
When your stamp roll starts to run low, your EasyPost stamp printer will automatically generate an order for new rolls. You will receive a roll of pre-printed postage labels onto which the value of postage can be printed by the stamp printer.
