How to Spot and Avoid Delivery Scams This Festive Season

9 December 2025

As the festive season approaches, many of us are busy shopping online for gifts, cards, and holiday essentials. Unfortunately, this is also the time when delivery scams surge, targeting unsuspecting customers with fake messages pretending to be from trusted services like An Post.

Common Signs of Delivery Scams

•    Requests to pay customs or redelivery fees via suspicious links

•    Messages sent from personal or unfamiliar numbers

•    Demands for sensitive information such as card details or login credentials

What An Post Will Never Do

•    Ask for payment via direct links in text messages

•    Charge you to have a parcel redelivered or delayed delivery

•    Request your bank details, OTPs, or card information by phone, email, or SMS

•    Send messages from personal numbers or ask you to click suspicious links

Tips to Shop Safely This Christmas

•    Use Scamchecker.ie – a free tool from FraudSMART to verify websites before making purchases or entering any credentials

•    Browse securely – look out for ‘https’ and a padlock icon in your browser when shopping online, and stick to reputable sites

•    Monitor your bank statements regularly for any suspicious activity

What to Do If You Receive a Suspicious Message

•    Do not click on any links or interact with the message

•    Report it to An Post Money Customer Services by emailing a copy of the fraudulent message to customerservices@anpostmoney.com
