At An Post, we are dedicated to supporting those living with dementia, ensuring they can maintain their financial independence. We recognise the challenges that come with losing capacity and we are committed to providing the assistance you may need to manage your financial affairs. You may need to appoint someone to make decisions on your behalf. While you still have the capacity to make your own decisions, talk to your solicitor about an Enduring Power of Attorney. This only comes into effect when you lose capacity.
When the time comes that you require support making decisions, the person acting on your behalf will have to apply to the Decision Supports Service (DSS) to have the Enduring Power of Attorney put in place. Once registered, this can be shared with An Post and we can have it noted on your account that a third party has been appointed to act on your behalf.
