Protect Nature - Pair of National Stamps

Ireland’s National Parks are managed by the National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS). As well as providing park visitors with access to some of the most stunning, varied landscapes in Ireland, they protect our unique geography and ecology for future generations, providing stewardship and a vision for the future.

Two of the biggest threats of human origin to our environment are wildfire and pollution, and the NPWS is actively taking steps to change this. This includes setting up a dedicated Unit for Wildlife Crime, including wildfires made by people, either accidentally or on purpose, and water pollution.

With a colour palette inspired by nature, our stamps focus on our rich ecology, the challenges it faces because of human activities, and how we can protect it. Each stamp speaks of one of the main two habitats: land and water, and important life forms: mammals and aquatic life, represented here by a hedgehog and a freshwater fish. They indicate nature’s richness, and the chief threats posed by human interventions.

These special stamps stand alongside other forms of education and outreach, teaching and inspiring the public to respect and protect nature for its own sake, and for all our generations to come.

National Stamps with 'N' denomination cover postage for letters and postcards to destinations in Zone 1 (Ireland and Northern Ireland).
