Love, in all its manifold aspects, is what makes the world go round. 

Since their earliest days, postal services have helped to nourish
loving relationships; to remind us all that we are loved. Whether 
it’s a Valentine’s card from one lover to another, an invitation to
attend the wedding of a couple on their big day, a Mother’s Day
card, or a simple, loving hello to someone having a tough time,
postal services around the world ensure these messages of
love are delivered.

Here at An Post, we like to think that tender messages are
made all the more heartfelt when adorned with one of our iconic 
stamps honouring love.

This year, our stamp designer has created a visually intriguing
image, inspired by the spirograph, a retro geometric drawing
toy that produces intricate and beautiful mathematical curves
known as hypotrochoids and epitrochoids. This style is
adapted to reimagining the traditional love heart shape. Set
against a background of graduated blue and cerise, it
makes a bold statement.

With its clear visual references to modernity, this year’s Love
stamp reminds us that while aesthetics change, our need for
emotional connections with others, for positive feedback from
friends and dear ones – and for love, in all its guises – remains.
