Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Éireann was founded in 1951 to enhance the status of traditional Irish music, dance, and language, in Ireland and around the world.
Through its network of hundreds of branches and multiple regional centres in Ireland, it delivers more than 2,000 classes every week. It also has branches in twenty-six countries.
Today, Comhaltas celebrates its 75th anniversary and its success in ensuring traditional Irish art forms are more popular than ever—both in Ireland and abroad. Comhaltas is still creating and expanding opportunities for people to participate in and enjoy Irish culture through language, education, music, and fleadhanna; festivals celebrating traditional music and culture, with competitions, recitals, and social gatherings.
Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann is the largest annual cultural gathering on the island, attracting more than 800,000 attendees to its week-long programme of events; in 2026, it takes place in Belfast.
Our stamp design reimagines the traditional fiddle as a patchwork of colour and texture. The different sections represent the diverse communities and experiences brought together through Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Éireann. What about exploring your local branch to experience its vibrant community, language and creativity?
