Senior Data Privacy Manager

Role Purpose

An Post’s Data Privacy Office is seeking a Senior Data Privacy Manager, to support the Head of Data Privacy and wider function, provide relevant legal advice and support on related matters throughout the organisation.


The principal responsibilities associated with this role include, but are not limited to the following: 

  • Providing cover for, and support to, the Head of Data Privacy;

  • Managing the day to day operations of the Data Privacy Office;

  • Providing timely, accurate legal advice on privacy, claims and related matters across the Group;

  • Updating the team on privacy developments, opportunities and threats:

  • Responding to queries, both to internal and external stakeholders;

  • Managing privacy aspects of data processing agreements with customers;

  • Advising Procurement/Risk Management teams on procurement privacy matters;

  • Leading Data Breach reporting and Data Subject Rights Request fulfilment;

  • Leading Privacy Office Communications, collaborating with Data Privacy Champions, to ensure all messaging is delivered effectively;

  • Managing the Data Privacy Office training programme and Privacy Office staff development;

  • Leading Data Protection Impact Assessments and managing Records of Processing Activities updates where appropriate;

  • Reviewing and updating Data Privacy Policies and Statements annually;

  • Responding to Data Protection Commission queries;

  • Leading the data retention and destruction compliance programme;

  • Overseeing Cookie management, recommendation implementation and the DPIA revision process with Head of Data Privacy;

  • Identifying opportunities for continuous improvement in data management processes.

  • Demonstrate An Post behaviours and values in your day to day work and address behaviour that supports/conflicts with them

Knowledge & Experience 

The ideal candidate will possess strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work as part of a team, communicating effectively with team members and Data Champions representing the various businesses and functions within the An Post Group.
You will have a legal or similar professional qualification and have knowledge and experience in Data Privacy, particularly with reference to Information Security and IT issues. You have proven leadership and management skills and are an advocate for continuous improvement. Lean certification is desirable but not essential.
