Planning & Operational Solutions Manager, An Post Commerce

Role Purpose 

An Post Commerce is undertaking a transformation programme aimed at improving, sustaining and growing our operational platform. As Planning & Operational Solutions Manager you will play a key role in this transformation, being instrumental in the enhanced route redesign process. Reporting to the Head of Planning, and working as part of a multidisciplinary team, you will focus on simple and scalable solutions to drive improvements and efficiencies. Leading two sizeable teams, you will ensure that the resulting processes, procedures, systems and structures enable An Post to achieve its stated business outcomes.

Responsibilities

The principal responsibilities associated with this role include, but are not limited to:

  • Building a strong team to leverage data and design analytics to support the drive for operational efficiency.

  • Mentoring and developing a large team of people in the culture of ongoing continual improvement.

  • Becoming a knowledge expert in mapping, street networks and developing the team in Geographic Information System (GIS) tools.

  • Creating the best approach to evaluating relevant data, forensically analysing and identifying changing trends that can impact the design operation process.

  • Successfully partnering with internal customers and leading planning activities to support verticals in meeting customer and commercial goals.

  • Being responsible for the management of master schedules and coordination of works with the Planning Team and various key teams in An Post Commerce.

  • Proactively managing to ensure all internal and any external SLAs are met on a continual basis.

  • Working closely with the Performance Manager to identify and provide analysis of key drivers of performance, and translating data into recommendations to improve efficiency and effectiveness of activities.

  • Leading and working with key partners on business readiness.

  • Continuous improvement focus through the analysis and use of data to make recommendations that support business strategy and the improvement of performance and customer experience.

  • Demonstrating An Post Shaping Our World actions and behaviours in your day to day work and addressing behaviour that supports/conflicts with them. 

Knowledge & Experience 

The ideal candidate will possess a bachelors or graduate degree in business, finance, engineering or information technology, or demonstrate strong validated equivalent experience. You will have at least 8 years’ proven experience in a high volume operational environment, leading high performing teams. You will demonstrate experience with planning and modelling systems and tools, and be competent managing budgets, business case development, and supply chain leadership exercises. Experience of managing sizeable projects is required.
 
You will possess analytical rigour, strong business judgement and decision-making skills and will be able to demonstrate a strong background of achievement with evidently increasing levels of responsibility. Prior consulting experience and Six Sigma training are highly desirable.
 
You will be a results-focused, highly motivated self-starter with a strong strategic outlook who can develop productive working relationships with relevant partners and influence effectively across all levels in the organisation. Your organisational abilities will enable you to consistently deliver quality outputs to tight deadlines while handling multiple assignments simultaneously. Experience in successfully motivating change in a large business environment is desirable.
 
This is a multi-faceted role and in order to achieve project implementation timelines, flexibility in days and hours of attendance and with assigned tasks will be required. This position will require travel on a periodic basis.
 
A driving licence is essential for this role.
