QA Manager - Group Technology Services

About Post Consult International (PCI)
PCI is a wholly owned subsidiary of An Post, providing specialist IT Strategy, Management and Development services across every aspect of An Post IT infrastructure. Alongside An Post IT staff, they collectively form the internal IT function known as Group Technology Services (GTS).
In Group Technology Services (GTS), we are looking to recruit a high performing individual with a proven track record in QA Management. Reporting to the GTS PMO Manager, you will lead a team of QA engineers, providing technical and subject matter expertise, mentoring and leadership. You will ensure the output of your team is at a consistently high level and seeks to conform with best in class international standards.
The key responsibilities associated with this role include but are not limited to:
Leading a team of QA engineers to ensure visibility, traceability and control of the testing process to deliver high quality tailored software, on time and within budget.
Coordinating both internal and third party resources to deliver our QA objectives across the enterprise.
Working with the PMO team to effectively manage, at an enterprise level, the current and future capacity & skills of the team to meet demands from both in-flight and future project pipelines.
Providing detailed estimates and a breakdown of components to be tested and resources required as part of planning for each project.
Managing QA project timelines and scope, collaborating closely with project managers to make sure tested systems are delivered on time & within budget.
Taking a risk based approach to regression testing and deploying resources as appropriate to meet these needs.
Managing risk within the function and raising concerns in a timely manner to allow for mitigation.
Communicating project expectations and goals to team members.
Reviewing test plans and test data to make sure that ISO 27001, PCI DSS, GDPR or other standards are adhered to.
Deploying "requirements traceability matrix" or other techniques to ensure the project delivers all of the agreed functionality.
Providing the project team and PMO with clear status reporting through the deployment of effective tooling, raising and addressing any areas of concern.
Supervising business users in User Acceptance Testing (UAT) to ensure their ways of working are consistent with agreed standards.
Collaborating with colleagues to ensure effective release management processes are continuously improved
Adhering to the Software Development Life Cycle and contributing to its ongoing development.
Steering the QA function to work within the agreed Project Management Methodology.
Demonstrating An Post Groups’ Shaping Our World actions and behaviours in your day to day work and addressing behaviour that supports/conflicts with them.
Knowledge & Experience
The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years’ experience as a QA Manager, gained in a fast paced IT environment combined with prior experience working in customer facing project roles. You are a quality focussed self-starter with keen attention to detail who can work independently when required while also consistently adhering to the policies and standards of the organisation. You will hold a degree-level qualification in Computer Science or equivalent discipline and ISTQB or equivalent certification. Project Management Certification (PMP) and/or Agile Certification (or work experience) would be an advantage.
You have demonstrable experience of overseeing the activity of creating functional and non-functional test plans, test data and maintaining test environments and will have previously introduced test automation, Lean processes and other tooling which reduce waste. You ensure that your output meets the vigorous security, volume and performance thresholds demanded by enterprise level applications. Experience of working on projects with multiple vendors & distributed QA teams is also required. You have a track record of advocating change and introducing and maintaining QA strategies that transform ways of working within your team. You have worked with and are at ease with Agile as well as traditional waterfall or hybrid project delivery methods.
You are an innovator with high emotional intelligence and a creative approach to problem solving. Strong people management skills enable you to motivate your team through skills development and continuous learning, working effectively to tight deadlines. You have excellent time management and planning skills and can demonstrate experience of accurately estimating the effort and duration required to execute the test phase of projects. Excellent customer facing, communication and presentation skills along with the ability to influence colleagues and key stakeholders is also required.
