Organisational Resilience Coordinator, Business Continuity Management

Temporary 18-Month Contract

Job Purpose 

Business continuity management (BCM), is a type of risk management designed to address the threat of disruptions to business activities or processes. It involves managing risks to ensure that mission-critical functions continue to provide an acceptable level of service, even in the event of a major disaster.
Reporting to the Chief Administrative Officer and also taking direction from the CRO, you will work with business operations, technology and premises management to develop, maintain and test plans, facilities and other factors that will ensure that An Post has a comprehensive Business Continuity capability.  As the Organisational Resilience Coordinator you will position An Post to anticipate, prepare for, and respond and adapt to everything from minor everyday events to acute shocks and chronic or incremental changes. You will be the Subject-Matter-Expert in the An Post business continuity programme.

Responsibilities

  • Overall responsibility for the coordination of the Business Continuity Management Programme, including the implementation and ongoing management of the business continuity management system (BCMS). 

  • Support the establishment and ongoing operation of the second line of defence within the BCMS, including Emergency Response, Incident Management, and Business Recovery.

  • Conduct a detailed and thorough review of all existing BC Plans and review the formulation of organisation-specific tests and exercises (working with the BCM Coordinators within each business unit). 

  • Interact extensively with relevant project stakeholders, and promote organisational awareness of Business Continuity policy, standards, plans, processes and arrangements.

  • Work actively with the 1st line of defence risk teams and business teams across the operations to ensure continuity planning practices are operating and aligned to the BCMS Framework and provide independent assessment of the BCM risk profile.

  • Coordinate a Business Continuity awareness programme, providing training and guidance where required.

  • Provide a coordination role to support Crisis Management Teams in the management of crises and serious incidents affecting or likely to affect the welfare of An Post’s people and/or critical business operations, in accordance Business Continuity Plans.

  • Work with business managers to ensure BC plans remain valid and fit for purpose, conduct regular business impact assessments with business units to quantify Business Continuity requirements and identify required Business Continuity Plans enhancements.

  • Maintain and make available management information reporting detailing the current status of all Business Continuity Plans.

Knowledge & Experience

The successful candidate will have a relevant third level degree and professional qualification in Business Continuity Management and/or Risk, with at least 5 years’ experience working in Business Continuity Management in a large corporate environment, ideally in the logistics or financial sector. You will be a team player with excellent interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to motivate and influence stakeholders to build a culture of resiliency in An Post.
In depth understanding of business continuity and crisis management, experience in producing high quality documentation and guiding this through revisions and the ability to ensure adequate recognition, measurement, management, and reporting of risks is key. You have strong analytical skills and understanding of performance metrics that will enable you to deftly identify where efficiencies can be introduced as well as being an excellent collaborator, ensuring targets are achieved with regard to budget and quality of service.
