External Regulatory Affairs Manager - Maternity Leave Cover


About the Role


The role of External Regulatory Affairs Manager is a great opportunity to join a high-performing team responsible for regulatory matters for An Post. Reporting to the Chief Regulatory Affairs Officer, the External Regulatory Affairs Manager will support in the development and implementation of An Post’s regulatory strategy in line with the commercial and operational requirements of the company. You will be a key member of the Regulatory Affairs team supporting a culture of compliance and innovation. In addition, you will support and develop An Post’s external engagement. This position requires the ability to think big and dive deep. The successful candidate will embody a unique mix of business leadership, regulatory and public policy skills along with technical acumen. The role will evolve with the changing needs of the business and environment.

Responsibilities

The principal responsibilities associated with this role include, but are not limited to the following;
  • Provide clear, concise, timely, commercially-focused regulatory advice to all business functions on postal regulatory matters.

  • Maintain An Post’s relationship with ComReg on a range of postal regulatory issues.

  • Build and maintain An Post’s relationship with Government on postal regulation, policy formulation and emerging regulatory developments.

  • Monitor and influence postal regulatory policy at EU and domestic levels, along with emerging global and industry trends, including submissions to public consultations.

  • Engage internationally with European institutions, the UN’s postal agency (the UPU) and sectoral representative associations such as the IPC and PostEurop.

  • Forge and maintain good working relationships with regulatory specialists of other postal administrations, academic institutions and postal consulting companies to facilitate the exchange of best practice information.

  • Collaborate to ensure an aligned approach with the wider Regulatory Affairs team.

  • Collaborate effectively with other corporate support functions and business units to ensure compliance with reporting/regulatory requirements.

  • Lead in the preparation of briefs, speeches and presentations for the CEO/CFO in respect of attendance at international meetings and conferences.

  • Represent and act as a spokesperson for An Post at external events and conferences.

  • Ad hoc assignments as required by the Chief Regulatory Affairs Officer.

  • Demonstrate An Post “Shaping Our World” behaviours in your day to day work and address behaviour that supports/conflicts with them.

Knowledge & Experience

You will be educated to advanced degree level in an economics, business or legal discipline. You will have 7+ years’ relevant experience in a regulatory/legal environment and have a proven track-record interfacing with senior executives, officials and public representatives, domestically and at EU-level. You will have excellent commercial awareness and a sophisticated knowledge of public policy, regulatory environments and industry trends at both national and EU level. You will have the ability and desire to travel internationally, as required. The successful candidate will have excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills with the ability to create factual and on-point messaging to relevant audiences, coupled with the ability to influence at the highest levels.
