Cloud Operations Engineer – An Post GTS

GTS Service Delivery has a requirement for a Cloud Operations Engineer to join their growing team based in Dublin.

Job Purpose

As Cloud Operations Engineer, you will be responsible for creating and maintaining cloud based solutions for IaaS, SaaS and PaaS in accordance with An Post’s Cloud Adoption Framework and security best practices.
The Cloud Operations Engineer will work collaboratively with DevOps, Solution architects and Project Management to deliver the requirements of our Digital Transformation program and Cloud strategy.

Responsibilities

  • Optimising existing systems, building infrastructure and eliminating work through automation
  • Assist with the design, planning and delivery of native and hybrid cloud systems
  • Deployment and troubleshooting of infrastructure-as-code (Azure ARM, Terraform or similar)
  • Identify opportunities to build self-service capabilities and automate infrastructure deployments
  • Responsible for Services: Office 365 Microsoft Online Services (Exchange Online, IAM), Directory Services (AD, ADFS), PaaS and SaaS Products and other Infrastructure supporting applications.
  • Provide hands-on technical expertise in technologies and services supported by the team.
  • Ensure that technology salutation is fit-for purpose and aligned with architectural principles, standards and roadmaps through working with the Enterprise Architecture team.
  • Conduct post-incident reviews and root cause analysis to help build monitoring and automation to prevent future incidents
  • Stay abreast of new cloud technologies and provide recommendations on new solutions

Knowledge, Experience and Skills

You must have a degree in business, computer science or information systems, or equivalent qualification or experience.”
A systematic problem-solving approach with a strong sense of ownership and drive, strong communication skills, and ability to talk to both internal and external parties at all levels is key. Excellent technical documentation skills and a sound knowledge of market standard processes and tools to support Disaster Recovery is required. You will be flexible and open to changing priorities and managing multiple tasks simultaneously within compressed time frames.

The ideal candidate will have an understanding of foundational Azure services such as Azure Virtual Network, Azure ExpressRoute, Azure Virtual Machines, Azure Blob Storage, Azure SQL, Azure Virtual Machine Scale Sets, Azure Backup, Azure O365, Azure Monitor, Azure Site Recovery, Bastion, Private Endpoints, Application Gateway, Front Door etc.

In-depth knowledge of security and IAM/RBAC within Azure, including the management and operation of Azure NSG, Azure Key Vault, Azure AD, Azure Security Centre, Azure Policy, and Azure Management Group/Subscriptions.
