Delivering for you after Brexit
From 1st January 2021, Brexit and new customs rules means the following changes for An Post customers.
Letters
There are no changes to letters in either direction between Great Britain and Ireland. Letter post will operate as normal.
Parcels to Great Britain
Sending parcels to GB will be the same as to any country outside the EU. You will need to fill out a customs form which is available via our customs page or in your local Post Office.
Parcels from Great Britain
- Parcels from GB into Ireland may incur customs charges.
- We have negotiated with 95% of retailers we deliver for in Great Britain to apply any charges when you purchase your goods online, so no action is required by you before delivery.
- For the remaining 5%, customs charges may apply and you will need to pay them before delivery. Personal gifts from GB with a value of €45 or more, may also carry a customs charge.
An Post will notify you if a parcel sent to you has incurred customs charges and you will need to pay the charges with An Post, online or in a Post Office, to receive the parcel.

Northern Ireland
There are no changes to letters in either direction between Northern Ireland and Ireland. There will be no customs charges for parcels originating in Northern Ireland or for parcels being sent to Northern Ireland. No forms need to be completed.
